Job Title: Shift Maintenance Electrician
Location: Gateshead
Salary: £46,405.13 (inclusive of 20% shift allowance)
Hours of Work: Rotating shift pattern between 05:30-17:30 and 17:30-05:30 (averaging 39 hours per week over the year)*

Job Purpose
To ensure plant and production equipment are safe, reliable, and available for use through effective shift-based electrical maintenance. This includes responding to breakdowns, carrying out planned and preventive maintenance, and supporting other departments as needed to maintain smooth production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Respond quickly and effectively to machinery and equipment breakdowns
- Conduct electrical maintenance on plant systems and process equipment
- Identify electrical faults and complete repairs
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices
- Test electrical systems, components, and installations to ensure correct functioning
- Perform inverter control work: replacement, setup, and tuning as required
- Work safely and competently in medium to large process environments
Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Follow weekly planned maintenance schedules
- Complete and close works orders accurately
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on various plant systems
- Maintain compliance with electrical codes and standards
Technical Expertise & Documentation
- Program and fault-find on PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley)
- Read, create, and modify electrical drawings
- Write detailed shift reports and communicate issues to oncoming shifts
- Attend maintenance meetings when required
Safety, Quality & Collaboration
- Take responsibility for personal and team safety at all times
- Adhere to organisational safety policies, procedures, and electrical standards
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in all work areas
- Support production and quality teams where required
- Assist other departments to maintain operational continuity
- Work collaboratively as a flexible and proactive team member
Measurement of Effectiveness
- Achievement of maintenance objectives
- Reduction of site downtime (KPI-driven)
- Quality and accuracy of maintenance records and shift reporting
- Compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards
