Position: Electrical Plant Maintenance Engineer
Package: £43,000 - £45,000 basic pa + 25 days holiday + Bank holidays + Xmas Shut down + Pension scheme matched up to 4% + Life Assurance 4 x Salary + Private medical insurance + Permanent health insurance (critical illness) + Annual company Bonus - Free parking on site
Hours: Days role 8am-5pm (1hr lunch) 40hrs p/wk Mon-Fri + OT paid at 1.5x Mon-Sat & 2x Sundays
Environment: Chemical Plant - ATEX Environment - Blending Process
Location: Dukinfield
The company and group: Established over 100yrs ago my client are a leading global adhesives provider focusing on perfecting adhesives, sealants and other specialty chemicals across all industries throughout the world. While their products are virtually invisible, they play a vital role in ensuring the quality of modern life and we are committed to connecting what matters to solve some of the world's biggest adhesion challenges.

Key objectives

This role is a varied and interesting role and is a mixture of Projects, Plant Improvements, and maintenance. It involves working in industrial ATEX areas to complete reactive and preventative maintenance activities. The plant electrical engineer will be the go‑to person on site for all electrical issues and have their own office/workshop complete with all electrical equipment and tools required to perform your duties. You will be involved in process improvements and project work across all areas of the business including ATEX areas and automation systems. There will be elements of trouble shooting when presented with a machine breakdown or process issues although most of the plant is modern with new equipment and technology so very little breakdowns, mostly planned and improvements focussed. You will be part of a small engineering team supporting all requirements of the plant. Also opportunity to progress within the business into more senior roles.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day electrical/instrumentation work across the sites such as disconnections/reconnections and installations of plant and equipment
  • PLC's, AC/DC motors, Sensors, Flow meters, Pumps, Storage tanks, and a variety of other chemical processing plant equipment and technology
  • Varied role with a good mixture of Cap‑ex Projects, Plant improvements and maintenance
  • 50% Projects and Plant improvements and 50% maintenance which is mainly PPM's with very little reactive
  • Testing and inspection of equipment and machinery, and calibration of instruments
  • Work closely with our electrical contractors and external electrical surveyors for inspection/conformance work, installations, or reactive maintenance utilizing resource where necessary
  • Working safely in ATEX zoned areas (possible COMPEX training)
  • Working with automation systems and fault finding
  • Computer literate and using maintenance or TPM software (cmms)
  • Planning maintenance activities using comms software
  • Record keeping for ISO audits and inspection traceability, reports, calibration, and diagnostics
  • 5S experience, good housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Electrically qualified with a minimum of 3 years fully qualified experience in an industrial electrical/instrumentation, Plant, process, and packaging environment
  • H&S focussed and electrically compliant
  • PLC and control systems (basic parameter setting, f/f)
  • Experience reading Electrical Schematics and panel diagrams
  • Good communication skills
  • Must have a good pro‑active attitude and able to communicate well with other departments and contractors
