Electrical Maintenance Craftsperson / Technician

Department: Operations and Maintenance

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Hope Cement Works, Derbyshire

Description

As an electrical craftsperson, you would be a key member of the maintenance team at Hope Works, responsible for ensuring the safe operation, serviceability, and compliance of electrical systems, plant, and equipment. You would play a critical part in maintaining the electrical integrity of the site-wide network, supporting operational efficiency and safety in a heavy industrial environment.

We are looking for a self‑motivated, reliable, and flexible individual with strong problem‑solving skills and a positive attitude toward improving workplace standards. You will work collaboratively within a multi‑disciplined team and assist in the development of trainees, while prioritising health, safety, and environmental standards at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Multi skilled electrical Engineering maintenance.
  • Preserve and maintain the electrical integrity of the site wide network, to ensure the highest standards of electrical safety.
  • Conduct planned maintenance inspections and corrective works of the plants fixed and rotating assets, in a heavy industrial environment, to include all HV & LV assets.
  • Undertake electrical inspection & testing and maintenance to BS7671 including fault finding, repairing defects.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot control & instrumentation systems.
  • Undertake preventative maintenance of large motors and drive systems.
  • Maintain HV & LV electrical networks.
  • Ensure accurate record‑keeping and adherence to schedules and procedures.
  • Actively contribute to health and safety initiatives, including risk assessments, method statements, and reporting safety observations.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • Proven electrical experience in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑disciplined team.
  • Strong understanding of electrical maintenance methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of electrical isolation, control and instrumentation equipment, and basic IT systems.
  • Time‑served/apprentice‑trained in Electrical Engineering or extensive relevant experience.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) certification.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • HV Operational Safety Training Course C&G 9848‑51 or equivalent (desirable)
  • C&G 2391‑52 Combined initial verification, periodic inspection, testing & reporting (desirable)
  • IOSH Working safely or equivalent
  • Safe isolation
