Job summary

Novara People Ltd. is seeking an experienced Electrical / M&E Installation Engineer for on-site installations across London and the South of England.

You will work with a small team to install electrical and mechanical ventilation systems, reading drawings and ensuring work meets safety and quality standards. The role requires strong electrical expertise, independent site work, and effective communication with contractors and project managers.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent
• 17th/18th Edition
• Valid ECS or CSCS card
• SSSTS or SMSTS - required for the Supervisor position
• Full UK Driving Licence - preferred due to travel involved
• City & Guilds 2391 - preferred but not essential

Responsibilities

• Install specialist electrical and mechanical ventilation systems on site
• Work across various sites throughout London and the South of England
• Carry out electrical installation works to required standards
• Support mechanical installation works where required
• Read and work from drawings and specifications
• Test and commission systems following installation
• Fault finding and resolving issues on site
• Control panel wiring where required
• Work closely with Project Managers throughout each project
• Provide regular progress updates by phone, email and face‑to‑face
• Liaise professionally with Main Contractors and M&E Contractors on site
• Ensure installations are completed to specification and programme
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and health & safety
• Supervise labourers or apprentices where required

Job description

Novara People are recruiting for an experienced Electrical / M&E Installation Engineer to join a specialist engineering business installing ventilation systems across London and the South of England.

This is a hands‑on, site-based position involving regular travel to different customer sites. You'll work alongside a small engineering team, carrying out electrical and mechanical installations and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time and to a high standard.

We're looking for someone with a strong electrical background who is comfortable working independently on site, dealing with contractors and taking responsibility for getting the job completed properly.

There is plenty of opportunity to develop within the business, with training provided on their specialist ventilation systems.

Duties

• Installation of specialist electrical and mechanical ventilation systems


• Working across various sites throughout London and the South of England


• Carrying out electrical installation works to required standards


• Supporting mechanical installation works where required

Skills:

• Previous experience working as an Electrician, Electrical Engineer, M&E Engineer or Installation Engineer


• Experience carrying out electrical installations on commercial or construction sites


• Able to work confidently from drawings and specifications


• Mechanical installation experience would be beneficial


• Ventilation, HVAC or M&E experience would be advantageous


• Control panel wiring and fault-finding experience would be an advantage


• Comfortable testing and commissioning installations


• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills


• Able to work independently and as part of a small site team


• Experience supervising labourers or apprentices would be beneficial


• Confident dealing directly with Main Contractors and M&E Contractors


• Good communication and organisational skills


• Willing and able to travel regularly across London and the South of England


• Professional, reliable and self‑motivated
