Job summary

Babcock is seeking an Electrical Instrumentation Technician at HMNB Clyde Faslane to calibrate, fault-find, test and maintain a wide range of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment in a defence environment.

You will deliver technical work packages on-site, follow safety, quality and environmental standards, develop calibration procedures and documentation, and pursue ongoing professional training; SC security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience fault-finding, testing and maintaining electrical or electronic systems within an engineering environment.
• Experience working to strict safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Ability to deliver technical tasks and work packages to agreed timescales and performance targets.
• Experience producing, interpreting or following technical documentation, procedures and inspection records.
• Ideally, experience in the calibration, diagnosis and repair of Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment, although candidates with an electrical engineering background are encouraged to apply as training can be provided.

The role

As aElectrical Instrumentation Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital role in supporting one of the UK's most important maritime defence establishments. Working with specialist Test, Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), you'll help ensure critical systems remain accurate, reliable and ready to support defence operations.

Day-to-day, you'll be required to:

• Carrying out calibration, adjustment, fault-finding and repair activities on a wide range of test, measurement and diagnostic equipment.
• Delivering technical work packages safely, accurately and in line with quality, cost and schedule requirements.
• Completing risk assessments and applying safety, quality and environmental standards across all activities.
• Developing and maintaining calibration procedures, checklists and technical documentation for new and existing equipment.
• Performing electrical testing and inspection activities to maintain equipment compliance, reliability and operational readiness.

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane.

Essential experience of the Electrical Instrumentation Technician

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
