Electrical Installations Lecturer

Location: Greater London (further education college)

Pay Rate: Competitive (hourly, PAYE)

About the Role

We are working with a further education college in Greater London that requires an Electrical Installations Lecturer to deliver practical and theoretical courses in electrical installation (from Level 1 through Level 2, with possible delivery up to Level 3). The role involves teaching full‑time and part‑time learners.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and assess practical and theory based lessons in electrical installations (e.g., wiring, installation, safety, fault‑finding) across Level 1 & Level 2 courses.
  • Prepare learning resources and course materials; set up practical workshop sessions.
  • Monitor and support student progress, attendance, and achievement to maximise success.
  • Carry out administrative and assessment responsibilities, keeping accurate records.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to learners, ensuring high standards of practical work and safety.
  • Where required, support apprenticeships or pre‑apprenticeship programmes, liaising with external employers.

Typical working hours are approximately 35 hours per week, but scheduling may vary depending on course demand.

Who We’re Looking For
Required
  • A recognised vocational qualification in Electrical Installations (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent trade qualification).
  • Strong practical experience working as an electrician or in electrical installation trade.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths demonstrating solid literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to plan and deliver practical workshop based training safely and effectively.
  • Good communication skills, ability to engage and support learners and monitor progress.
  • A commitment to health and safety, safeguarding and inclusive teaching practices.
Desirable
  • A teaching qualification (e.g., AET, DET) or willingness to work towards one.
  • Previous experience teaching in a Further Education (FE) or apprenticeship setting.
  • An Assessor Award or Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification.
  • Capability to contribute to curriculum development or course content design.
