Job summary

Southwark Council is seeking an Electrical Inspector to oversee electrical inspection, testing and remedial works as part of the EICR programme. The role will be based at SE1 2QH and tied to an initial 3-6 month temporary contract with potential extension or permanency for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will inspect installations, validate EICRs, monitor contractors, and liaise with stakeholders to ensure compliance with current regulations and standards.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.
• Experience in electrical inspection, testing and certification.
• Knowledge of electrical installation standards, inspection procedures and remedial works.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and monitor contractors undertaking electrical inspection, testing and remedial works as part of the Council’s EICR programme.
• Inspect electrical installations and completed works to ensure compliance with current electrical regulations, technical standards and Council requirements.
• Review, validate and monitor Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), electrical certificates and associated technical documentation.
• Identify defective, unsafe or non-compliant electrical installations and ensure that appropriate remedial action is undertaken within agreed timescales.
• Monitor contractor performance, workmanship, quality of installations and compliance with contractual requirements and service-level standards.
• Carry out site inspections and quality assurance checks to verify that electrical works have been completed to the required standard.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, internal teams and other stakeholders to coordinate inspection programmes, remedial works and certification.
• Provide technical advice and guidance on electrical installations, inspection findings, testing requirements and remedial works.

I am currently representing Southwark Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Electrical Inspector this role will be based at: SE1 2QH

The right candidate will:

We require the following:

• Level 3 NVQ in Electrical Installation or an equivalent recognised electrical qualification.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Relevant experience in electrical inspection, testing and certification.
• Knowledge of electrical installation standards, inspection procedures and remedial works.
