Engineering Electrical Supervisor

Jenrick Engineering are recruiting an Engineering Electrical Supervisor on permanent basis for a Client based in Corby. The successful candidate will be a time-served multi-skilled engineer able to work with electrical control systems to fault finding level as well as carry out mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic fault finding and repairs to a range of foam conversion equipment. Strong oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills essential as well as a broad knowledge of all aspects of engineering and site facilities. Must be self-motivated, have excellent judgment and be able to multitask under pressure. Be able to control outside contractors, issuing permits, ensuring all correct paperwork has been submitted. Knowledge of process safety and implementing procedures.

As an Engineering Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated team of engineers, overseeing daily operations and small projects. You will be responsible for managing workloads, providing technical guidance and mentorship, and ensuring team performance aligns with company goals. Your role is critical in fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment while maintaining quality, safety, and efficiency standards.

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 P/A

Shifts: 08:00 - 16:30 Monday to Friday

Job Purpose

To monitor and inspect the condition of production equipment, the site facilities and carryout maintenance and repairs as necessary, to ensure safety and maximise uptime performance.

  • To devise planned preventative maintenance schedules and update accurately and on time.
  • Monitor line performance for operational efficiency, report to management OEE and devise improvements to existing processes.
  • Carryout Root cause analysis when a breakdown occurs and implements solutions to mitigate reoccurrence.
  • Assist with safety related issues on site including writing of risk assessments and safe operating procedures - a key member of the site safety team.
  • Manage small projects when required.
  • Organise and supervise external contractors carrying out work on site, ensuring permits are issued and Vita / regulatory standards are always met.
  • Knowledge of process safety (Training can be given to the right candidate).
  • Ensure statutory records for equipment are maintained on time.
  • Create and keep updated maintenance work lists and proactively report to management.
  • Lead a small team of engineers by assigning daily workloads, ensuring completion deadlines.
  • Provide continuous coaching to develop each team member's needs.
  • Conduct regular reviews, setting clear objectives.
  • Ensure all works comply with company policies and procedures.
Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Strong fault diagnosis skills on industrial electrical and mechanical systems to rectify breakdowns of production machinery and site facilities.
  • Able to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure all engineering work carried out on site is completed to the required safety standards.
  • Issue permits to work and monitor contractor performance.
  • Monitor and record the performance of production equipment.
  • Suggest improvements and if approved carryout associated modifications as small projects.
  • Liaise with suppliers, obtaining best prices and deliveries for services, spare parts and equipment purchases.
  • Knowledge of process safety and its systems (training can be given for the right candidate).
  • Lead a small team of engineers by assigning daily workloads, ensuring completion deadlines.
  • Provide continuous coaching to develop each team members needs and progression.
  • Conduct regular reviews setting clear objectives.

Person Specification

Education and experience - Minimum level of education and experience required.

Essential

Desirable

  • Worked in a large multinational company.
  • ONC or HNC time served apprenticed trained technician.
  • NVQ Level 3 in electrical maintenance or equivalent.
  • Able to interrogate and fault find with PLCs and AC inverter and servo drives.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • 17th or18th Edition Wiring regulations.
  • Good aptitude for pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Able to carry out basic welding and machining to facilitate repairs.
  • IT literate MS Word, Excel, Email and CMMS system.
  • Nebosh Certificate in Process Safety.
  • Iosh /Nebosh Managing safety.
  • Contractor Management / Supervision.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written English capability.
  • CMI level 3 or above in management and leadership.
