Job description

Howdens is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team at our manufacturing site in Howden, East Yorkshire. This opportunity has arisen following a recent retirement. In this role, you'll be responsible for proactive and preventative maintenance across our manufacturing equipment, services, and utilities, while also supporting improvement projects. You'll also play a key role in providing reactive maintenance support when needed.

Responsibilities
  • Proactive and preventative maintenance
  • Reactive breakdown maintenance
  • Continual improvement projects
  • Ownership and development of specific production line maintenance
  • Supporting and engaging with lean manufacturing
Qualifications

The ideal candidate could have either completed an engineering apprenticeship or have relevant engineering qualifications with proven manufacturing or industrial experience, and a good understanding of manufacturing processes within an FMCG environment.

  • Experienced in maintaining multi‑axis (CNC) manufacturing machinery & Extraction plants
  • Experience in a woodworking manufacturing plant – desirable
  • PUWER experience – desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of Siemens s7 PLC, PLC, Pilz Safety PLC, and PLC – desirable
  • Fault finding, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Experience of computerised maintenance management systems
  • NVQ Level 3 – essential
Pay

Pay rate: £53,827.28 per annum (Inclusive of Basic rate, shift & disturbance allowance)

Shift Pattern
  • Week 1 – Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 6am‑6pm
  • Week 2 – Monday, Tuesday – 6am‑6pm, Wednesday, Thursday – 6pm‑6am
  • Week 3 – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday – 6pm‑6am
  • 7 days off
