Job summary

A leading manufacturer of paper products is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Lancaster. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, troubleshooting issues and performing preventative maintenance. Candidates should have a Level 3 NVQ Diploma and at least 5 years of experience, preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment, especially in pulp or paper mills.

This position will sit within an established engineering team that thrives on continuous development of knowledge and practical application. Working Monday - Friday this role plays an important part of the day-to-day workings of the Converting Machines. This role is well-suited to an Electrical Engineer with experience working in a FMCG environment, happy to be hands on and always willing and eager to learn.

What you will be doing:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and company standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to motors, drives (VFDs), control systems, lighting, wiring, circuit breakers, and transformers.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on production equipment, including paper machine, pulp processing units, and conveyor systems.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, technical diagrams, and schematics.
  • Install and program PLCs, HMIs, and related automation systems as needed.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation of all electrical work performed.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and electrical codes and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Participate in shutdowns, turnarounds, and major maintenance projects.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist with on-call duties when required.
  • Adhere to 5S workplace organization standards.
What you will need:
  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma.
  • 17th / 18th edition wiring regulations.
  • Completion of an approved electrician apprenticeship program or technical school preferred.
  • Additional certifications in PLC programming or motor control systems are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Industrial Electrician, preferably in a pulp or paper mill or similar heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with paper machine electrical systems, motor controls, and high-voltage equipment is strongly preferred.
