Electrical Engineer Overview

We’re looking for a practical, hands‑on Electrical Engineer who thrives on solving problems and working directly on site. You’ll be the one troubleshooting, installing, and maintaining electrical systems across multiple sites in London. If you're passionate about electrical work and enjoy getting stuck in on the ground, this role will offer you plenty of variety and challenge.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Carry out electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of building systems, including lighting, power, and communications.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults on electrical systems, resolving issues on‑site and ensuring repairs meet high standards.
  • Ensure electrical systems are installed and maintained in line with relevant safety regulations, industry standards, and building codes.
  • Perform regular checks and ongoing maintenance of electrical systems to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Help commission electrical systems, making sure everything is functioning correctly before handover.
  • Work closely with site managers, contractors, and other team members to resolve electrical issues and keep projects on track.
  • Stay on top of servicing and maintaining electrical systems and equipment to prevent failures and reduce downtime.
  • Keep detailed records of electrical work carried out, including repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Provide advice on best practices for electrical system upkeep and improving energy efficiency.
  • Respond quickly to emergency maintenance requests, troubleshooting and solving urgent electrical issues.
Skills & Experience
  • A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a similar field.
  • At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in electrical engineering, particularly in the maintenance and installation of building systems.
  • Strong experience in electrical installation, testing, commissioning, and fault finding.
  • Good understanding of electrical codes, safety standards, and building regulations.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for electrical work on‑site.
  • Experience with fire and security systems would be an advantage.
  • Solid problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Well organised, able to manage multiple tasks without compromising quality.
  • Able to work under pressure and respond to urgent maintenance situations as needed.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors and clients.
  • Full UK driving licence (or equivalent).
