Job summary

Ball Corporation in Kettering, England, seeks an Electrical Engineer for day shift to join the Maintenance Team. You will install, troubleshoot and maintain high-speed production equipment, support line performance, and introduce improvements to ensure safe, reliable operation.

The role requires hands-on wiring, PLC work, and strong teamwork in a 24/7 manufacturing setting; prior experience and electrical qualifications are expected, with clear communication and willingness to train colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role in a fast-paced, critical 24/7 manufacturing or industrial company.
• Electrical NVQ Level 3 is required as a minimum.
• Desirable: HNC/HND in electrical engineering.
• Clear communication across all levels and ability to train colleagues as needed.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools and electronic testing equipment.
• Working knowledge of equipment nomenclature, electronics and electrical systems.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains high-speed industrial process equipment and PLC logic controls for production processes.
• Troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs electrical equipment and timing devices.
• Performs preventive maintenance on electrical systems.
• Identifies inefficiencies and coordinates with supervisor to resolve issues.
• Diagnoses malfunctions and improves line performance through PLC programming and checks.
• Installs and troubleshoots facility power distribution and lighting services.
• Wires, assembles, and layouts electrical/electronic systems to Ball specifications.
• Updates wiring schematics and program printouts.
• Maintains required hand tools and follows SOPs.

Position overview:
As the plant Electrician, you will be a member of the wider Maintenance Team that plays a critical part in supporting the plant's overall business plans and objectives as directed.
This role will involve a variety of aspects from day to day fault finding to setting up the brand-new production lines, flexibility is required.

Key responsibilities include:

• Installs and maintains high-speed, industrial process equipment for can and/or end making, power, lighting control, and PLC logic controls for all production processes and control equipment.
• Troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs all electrical equipment, components, transducers, and complex timing and inspection devices.
• Performs preventative maintenance on assigned electrical systems.
• Identifies inefficiencies and potential electrical problems and coordinates through supervisor to resolve them.
• Diagnoses causes of malfunctions and corrects through programmable logic controls. Ensures efficient equipment operation through proper line control programming and proactively suggests methods to improve line performance.
• Installs and troubleshoots facility power distribution and lighting services.
• Must display competent ability to wire, assemble, and layout electrical/electronic systems in an extremely neat and professional manner and conform to Ball wiring specifications.
• Updates wiring schematics and computer program printouts.
• Supplies and maintains required hand tools.
• Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs, JBSs).

What are we looking for?

• Experience in a similar role in a fast-paced, critical 24/7 manufacturing or industrial company
• Minimal qualification of Electrical NVQ Level 3, desirable qualification HNC/HND in electrical engineering
• Clear communication across all levels and ability to train colleagues as needed
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools and electronic testing equipment
• Working knowledge of the following areas: nomenclature of all assigned equipment; solid state circuitry, electronics, electrical-mechanical devices, transmission systems, interface units, AC/DC motors, wiring diagrams and schematics, computers and inspection and digital devices.
• Fluent in English
