Job summary

Rider Levett Bucknall seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Consultant Engineer to join our West & Wales Built Asset Consultancy team. You’ll lead electrical design from RIBA Stage 0-4, survey infrastructure, and advise clients during construction, coordinating with internal teams and external contractors.

You will drive feasibility studies, produce technical drawings and tender packages, and monitor site works to ensure quality and compliance across multiple sectors.

Qualifications

  • BSc Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required or recognised.
  • Chartered status or working towards MCIBSE is preferred.
  • Proven track record in independent electrical design from RIBA Stage 0-4.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake feasibility studies and detailed electrical design.
  • Produce technical drawings and full electrical tender packages.
  • Monitor on-site works and report conformity and quality.
  • Conduct electrical condition surveys and pre-acquisition surveys.
  • Provide technical advisory support to clients and internal teams.

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Senior Electrical Consultant Engineer to join a client focused team within our West & Wales Built Asset Consultancy service, to work across various sectors, including public, environmental, commercial, education etc. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive Electrical Consultant Engineer who is familiar with surveying Electrical building infrastructure, can independently undertake design from RIBA Stage 0-4 and is comfortable in providing technical advice to clients throughout the construction stage of a project. The right Electrical Consultant Engineer will be willing to support our existing team with developing and growing the in-region M&E service to align with our business plan. Role Responsibilities

  • Undertake project feasibility studies
  • Detailed technical design of Electrical Services
  • Produce technical drawings
  • Produce full electrical tender packages
  • Monitor Electrical works on site and reporting on conformity and quality
  • Undertake Electrical condition surveys
  • Undertake pre-acquisition, dilapidation, PPM surveys
  • Undertake technical advisor roles to support clients and develop contractor designs
  • Monitoring Electrical works on site and reporting on conformity and quality
  • Carrying out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
  • Comply with established commercial/procurement/contractual strategies
  • To comply with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
  • Advising, liaising and working closely with internal project teams
  • Developing Commercial Strategies
    The ideal candidate will be delivering customer service excellence, demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role with good commercial results and encompass a realistic selection of the following qualifications and attributes:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent customer service, communication and client/external interface skills
  • Ability to monitor Electrical works on site
  • Be proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • Well organised, diligent, proactive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
  • Committed to support developing our in-region M&E service offering
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willing to travel depending on project locations. Majority of work will be in Southwest and South Wales, BSc Electrical Engineering degree (as a minimum)
  • Recognised M&E qualification
  • Chartered or willing to obtain MCIBSE (or equivalent)
Experience
  • Track record in a similar role or site engineering
  • High level of independent Electrical design experience from RIBA 0-4
  • Asset surveying, identification, age/remaining life estimation
  • Technical due diligence work
  • Use of technology, such as tablets, in previous roles
  • Use of relevant software such as CAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Package
  • REVIT experience would be beneficial but not essential
