Job Title: Electrical Bias Engineer
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting an Electrical Bias Engineer to join the team.
The successful candidate will be able to install and maintain new plant and equipment, ensuring that faults and defects are swiftly rectified.
Role Summary:
- React to breakdown maintenance requests within the required SLA's.
- Have technical awareness of computer room, call centre, trader operations, and experience with power, UPS, CPS, distribution, cooling systems, etc.
- Perform repairs to modular UPS systems.
- Test and diagnose power quality issues, including harmonic distortion, using onsite power analysers.
- Apply a risk-focused maintenance approach and operate plant and systems in data centres/critical environments.
- Provide emergency response standby and call-out services.
- Escalate urgent issues to the Technical Services Manager.
- Respond to work interruptions, outages, or emergencies in accordance with the SLA.
- Ensure all critical engineering maintenance documentation and records are kept updated.
- Advise the Facilities Management Team of changes in critical environment requirements.
- Work beyond contractual hours as needed.
- Undertake site surveys, produce Works Requests, Method Statements, and Risk Assessments for planned works.
- Carry out upgrade and installation work.
- Interpret technical drawings, instructions, processes, and O&M manuals.
- Complete all reactive Helpdesk Requests.
- Monitor environmental conditions and review loading/working conditions of critical equipment regularly.
- Adhere to financial processes at all times.
- Prepare incident reports for abnormal incidents affecting system availability within 24 business hours.
- Identify root causes and actions to restore system availability and prevent recurrence.
- Review and submit documentation of actions to the Technical Services Manager.
- Enter relevant quotes and remedial works into the in-house system.
Experience Required:
Essential
- 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulation
Desirable
- Experience with building management systems, fault finding, and operator use.
- Experience with VAV systems, FCU systems, chilled water circuits, and chilled beams.
- Understanding of HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of CDM processes.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills at all levels.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Ability to manage tasks and determine material requirements.
- Experience with H&S procedures, COSHH, Working at Heights, Risk Assessments, etc.
- Health & Safety qualifications such as IOSH or NEBOSH.
- Experience in testing and inspecting electrical systems.
- Knowledge of emergency response, standby, and call-out protocols.
- Understanding of utility monitoring and environmental programs.
- Authorized Person status (e.g., AP15/12) or eligibility.
- Water hygiene L8 certification.
