Job summary

A growing machinery manufacturing business in Nottingham is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer. You will lead the electrical commissioning of new machines and be involved in diagnosing and resolving faults, as well as designing electrical architectures for CNC platforms. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and has experience in CNC machinery and PLC control. This role offers a competitive salary and significant training opportunities.

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer? We are working with a growing machinery manufacturing business who are looking to add to the team. They are looking for an Electrical Engineer to work closely with Mechanical, Software, Applications and Service teams across new machine development, commissioning and long-term support.

Job Description
  • Lead electrical and commissioning of new laser and plasma machines
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, CNC and motion control faults during build and validation
  • Sign off electrical functionality prior to machine release
  • Design electrical architectures and PLC‑controlled motion systems for new CNC platforms
  • Specify and integrate drives, motors, controllers, sensors and laser subsystems
  • Support prototype builds and system validation with cross‑functional teams
  • Act as the internal escalation point for complex electrical and PLC‑related faults
  • Provide advanced root‑cause analysis to support the Service team
  • Develop structured technical guidance and training for internal engineers
  • Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and control panel layouts
  • Ensure compliance with CE, UKCA, Machinery Directive and safety standards
  • Create and maintain BOMs, test specifications and build documentation
  • PLC coding is owned within this role
Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or related field
  • Experience in CNC machinery, special‑purpose machines or industrial automation
  • Strong capability in industrial electrical design, PLC control and multi‑axis motion systems
