Electrical Engineer/ Project Engineer (Event Power / Electrical)

Gofer is looking for a talented and motivated Electrical Engineer/ Project Engineer (Event Power / Electrical) to join our team on a full‑time, permanent basis, located at our Head Office in Ipswich, Suffolk.

About the Role

As Electrical Engineer/ Project Engineer (Event Power / Electrical), you will own projects from quote to delivery, supporting clients, colleagues, and subcontractors. The role is based at HQ but the majority of the work is on site, ensuring every event runs safely, on time, and flawlessly. Expect a mix of hands‑on on‑site challenges, technical tasks, warehousing, servicing, and office‑based work.

Working hours are based on a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, with an on‑call/stand‑by rota covering at least 66 mid‑week days and 26 weekend days annually. Standard non‑project days are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm, with flexibility required for events including weekends and evenings.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install temporary electrical distribution and generators, deliver and collect equipment, and provide on‑site engineering support.
  • Provide quotes, organise equipment hire, follow up on enquiries, schedule staff and subcontractors, and coordinate transportation and sub‑rental requirements.
  • Maintain, prep and build equipment, ensure stock levels of fuel, parts and consumables, and perform testing, inspection, and calibration.
  • Service and clean generators and vehicles, maintain logs and records, and manage refuelling.
  • Offer technical support, build relationships with clients, and network to develop new business opportunities.
  • Adhere to BS7909 standards, maintain safe working practices, and support Gofer’s sustainability goals.
  • Act as key holder, respond to alarm callouts and out‑of‑hours requirements, and support Directors with any additional responsibilities.
About You

You bring experience in the electrical or events industry, with knowledge of temporary power, generators, and plant equipment. Skills in people management, time management, and problem‑solving are essential. A full driving licence is required; forklift, ADR, electrical qualifications, and experience with BS7909 standards are desirable.

You are reliable, focused, and have a strong attention to detail, thriving both independently and as part of a team.
