Job description
Overview

Our client, a leading water sector specialist, is seeking Electrical Engineers to work out of their London Paddington office. This role primarily focuses on Thames Water sites and requires site visits as part of the role. Ideal candidates will have both design and project-based experience.

While water sector experience is preferred, the client will consider candidates from relevant industries with transferable skills. Sponsorship cannot be offered; candidates must have full RTW in the UK.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Evaluate electrical design drawings, schedules, and documents from clients for pricing and feasibility.
  • Develop electrical design drawings, calculations, schedules, and documentation for Motor Control Centres (MCCs), cable networks, and containment requirements.
  • Produce Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and Control Philosophy documents.
  • Assess Client DNO supply characteristics, site earthing layouts, and lightning protection requirements.
  • Prepare electrical designs, specifications, and enquiry documents for inclusion in subcontractor tender packages.
  • Review and approve supplier and subcontractor electrical design drawings, schedules, and documents for compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant standards, regulations, and company Health & Safety policies.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and integrated FATs (iFATs) as required.
  • Conduct site visits to liaise with clients, assess project requirements, and carry out detailed site surveys.
  • Create technical specifications based on client requirements and site survey data (including documentation and photographs) in coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Input survey data, photographs, and related information into the job costing system to maintain transparency.
  • Expedite supplier orders and subcontract works packages to meet project timelines.
  • Conduct inspection visits to suppliers to monitor progress, verify quality, and ensure compliance with company requirements.
  • Ensure that suppliers and subcontractors meet company Quality Standards in project delivery.
  • Ensure that projects are executed in accordance with company procedures and policies.
  • Maintain effective communication between internal teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Generate and maintain design standards for water and process-based plants, equipment, and ancillaries.
  • Deliver design packages ready for construction and provide technical support during execution.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the coordination of design and procurement activities.
  • Support the Project Manager and engineering team with the preparation of equipment specifications.
Ideal Skills & Qualifications
  • At least 2-5 years' experience in a similar role. (Salary/Package will be dependent on experience).
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large value projects from conception to handover.
  • A relevant Engineering qualification, ideally to Degree level.
  • A full UK driving license.
  • Familiarity with onsite health and safety regulations.
  • Water Hygiene training or a basic understanding of water and sewerage hygiene (desired).
  • Experience or a background in engineering, particularly in Water Utilities and/or process control/flow control/instrumentation/LV MCCs & PLCs.
  • Strong communication skills for both client meetings and site team coordination.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
