Job summary

Hoare Lea Cardiff is recruiting an Electrical Engineer for our Cardiff office. You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems on large, complex projects, liaising with the project team and clients to shape technically sound solutions.

You will work within a dynamic, supportive environment that values development, wellbeing, and collaboration across disciplines, as we pursue ambitious design challenges in the built environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Electrical Engineer or similar role delivering complex projects.
• Experience with BIM, Revit and lighting/electrical design software.
• Comfort with coordinating across project teams and client meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design delivery for significant projects.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects and contractors.
• Prepare specifications, calculations and reports.
• Attend client meetings and site inspections.
• Take ownership of project tasks and ensure timely delivery.

About The Role

We have a brand-new opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Cardiff office and work as part of the largest independent consulting engineering firm of its kind. Joining at an exciting period in the Hoare Lea Cardiff journey, in our new City Centre Office.

You will join a talented, dynamic, and diverse team of designers, engineers, and technical specialists with a unique working culture. Our team is large enough to work on large national and international schemes yet agile enough to allow significant talent growth and career progression.

As an Engineer, you will be responsible for the design delivery of significant and complex engineering projects. You will liaise with other team members across the project team and take ownership of project tasks. You will coordinate with other professionals, developing effective relationships, to stimulate future business growth.

• Provide detailed, coordinated and cost-efficient electrical design advice to our varied client list.
• Tailor a comprehensive service of specifications, calculations and reports.
• Design electrical engineering systems at the highest level using the latest software design packages.
• Take responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work either alone or as part of a team.
• Look at new ways of working and taking time out for innovation and research ensuring we keep abreast of our competitors.
• Produce calculations, reports and specifications with good written communication skills.
• Attend DTMs/client meetings and site inspections.
• Work with minimal supervision and you may be responsible for your own individual projects. In this role the ability to react efficiently to multiple tasks and tight deadlines is essential.

About You

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

• Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
• Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
• Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors / architects in a design-oriented / consultant role.
• Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity
• Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
