Job summary

Hinton Recruitment Partners are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for a Colchester-based engineering technology business. You will design, develop and test electrical/electronic systems for advanced industrial machinery, supporting both new product development and product improvement, within a multidisciplinary team.

The role includes designing electrical panels, wiring looms, BOMs, prototyping and testing, while ensuring safety standards.

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
Several years' experience designing electrical/electronic systems within an industrial environment.
Experience designing electro-mechanical systems (robotics, automation) or similar machinery.
Experience in multidisciplinary teams on medium to large engineering projects.
Strong experience designing electrical control panels, circuit breakers, contactors and wiring harnesses.

Responsibilities

Design electrical support systems for complex industrial machinery.
Design and document electrical panels, PCBs and general machine wiring.
Produce basic mechanical designs for electro-mechanical components and systems.
Carry out practical electrical/electronic prototyping and testing.
Specify, document and manage electrical Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Support ongoing improvement and development of existing products.
Collaborate with mechanical, software and other engineering disciplines throughout project delivery.
Contribute to successful delivery of medium to large-scale engineering projects.
