Overview

Electrical Design Engineer – Leicester. Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 per annum.

GI Pro, the specialist technical division of GI Group, is recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer on behalf of a long-established and highly respected manufacturer of electrical equipment. This is a hands-on role where your design expertise will directly contribute to high-performance engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical design calculations, wiring diagrams, and layout documentation using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Ensure the electrical safety of machinery, including correct wiring, protective measures, emergency stops, and operator safeguards.
• Design and verify low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies, ensuring mechanical integrity, thermal performance, and compliance with distribution standards.
• Review and approve design work from other team members.
• Collaborate with Production, Sales, Service, and Customer Support teams.
• Lead technical investigations and contribute to product development and testing.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget, managing a varied workload.
• Identify and implement new industry-wide processes.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical for drawings and documentation.
• Understanding of electrical safety standards and machinery compliance.
• Ability to review and mentor design work from team members.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
