Job summary

A leading consulting firm in Peterborough seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to design MCC panels, produce I/O configurations, and update building layout drawings. The ideal candidate will have a relevant diploma or degree, experience with tools like Amtech and AutoCAD, and excellent communication skills. This role requires a valid driving license and the ability to travel within the UK and internationally.

Qualifications

• Experience with electrical installations (BS7671) or equivalent.
• Knowledge of drives, PLCs, control gear (Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens).
• Valid driving licence and ready to travel in the UK and worldwide.

Electrical Design Engineer

Peterborough

Job responsibilities:

• Design of MCC Panels (motor circuits, safety circuits, PLC equipment, layouts)
• Produce I/O configuration and I/O lists, material specifications and bills of material
• Produce cable lists / sizing calculations / electrical test sheets / single line diagrams
• Design cable routes, calculate containment size and update building layout drawings
• Writing Risk Assessments and Method Statements / CDM regulations
• Modifications to hardware and panels on site (24VDC, 230VAC, 415VAC)
• Electrical testing / fault finding on site

Required qualifications

• Technical/Vocational diploma or degree in electrical engineering or C&G Level 3, NVQ 3 & requirements for electrical installations (BS7671) or equivalent
• Experience with Amtech, AutoCAD, Excel and EPLAN, or other drawing package
• Knowledge of current electrical regulations / safety requirements
• Knowledge of drives, PLCs, control gear (Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens)
• Flexible, self‑motivated, works well as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and enjoy working in a team
• Valid driving licence and ready to travel in the UK and worldwide
• Demonstrable experience of electrical design engineering
