Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support various projects within the Railway and Telecommunications sectors in North London. Candidates should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering and knowledge of Network Rail and British Standards. The role will involve delivering design work from initial concept to detailed design, producing CAD drawings, and preparing project specifications, alongside liaising with clients. This is an exciting opportunity within a global infrastructure group.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CDM regulations and NR standards is essential.
• Qualified engineer with understanding of Project Management.
• Experienced in CAD design and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver design support from concept planning to detailed design.
• Prepare detailed technical specifications throughout GRIP stages.
• Produce 2D/3D CAD drawings and complete cable calculations.
• Assist with client technical queries and attend meetings.

Our Client is part of a Global Infrastructure Group and is a leading provider of services to clients across a range of engineering, construction and infrastructure sectors. The Group employs over 400 people worldwide and currently has offices in the UK, Ireland, Sydney and Melbourne.

We are currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our operation based in North London The successful candidates will have an opportunity to work a wide variety of projects in support the Rail and Telecommunications business units.

Working as part of the team structure the candidate shall, as necessary, deliver design and support from initial concept planning through to detailed design.

Successful applicants will have the following:

• Network Rail Standards, Railway Group Standards and CDM regulations
• Awareness and understanding of current British Standards
• Be familiar, and have experience of Points Heating system design
• Fulfil the duties of Contract Responsible Engineer in line with CDM regulations & NR standards Desired Criteria
• Qualified to Degree, or higher level, in Electrical Engineering
• Membership of relevant professional body
• Skilled using software including: Bentley, Microstation v8i, ProjectWise, eB and Amtech
• The Electrical Design Engineer shall report to the Design Manager
• Prepare detailed technical specification throughout GRIP stages
• Review and checking of documentation
• Produce 2D/3D CAD drawings
• Complete cable calculations in conjunction with documents/drawings
• Assist with client technical queries
• Prepare risk assessments
• Produce detailed programmes to provide time scales and milestones for the projects
• Production of Work Package Plans and Task Briefs
• Prepare operation and maintenance manuals
• Attend client meetings
• IDC review's as per project requirements
