Job summary

A leading energy consultancy in the UK is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their design team. You will be involved in producing designs that support the transition to Net Zero, including calculations, drawings, and documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical design within power generation and a relevant qualification. Qualifications

  • Experience producing electrical designs within power generation or similar sectors.
  • HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering; degree desirable.
  • Full UK manual driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Producing electrical calculations, designs and drawings for energy and power projects.
  • Preparing power cable calculations and cable schedules.
  • Supporting the production of design documentation.

Skills

Producing electrical designs
Knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
Experience with power generation
Working knowledge of Amtech
Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Exposure to motor VSD controls

Electrical Design Engineer – Intermediate

Locations : Blackburn or Glasgow

About Our Client

Our client is a leading UK-based energy and engineering consultancy specialising in the design and delivery of low-carbon energy infrastructure. They work across both the public and private sectors, supporting hospitals, universities, residential developments, commercial buildings and large-scale urban projects to decarbonise heat and power systems. Their work plays a key role in supporting the UK’s Net Zero ambitions through innovative, sustainable energy solutions. They are growing ay 20% YoY and have a team of 125 MEP Engineers across the UK.

The Role

Our client is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding design team, supporting the delivery of low-carbon energy and power infrastructure projects across the UK.

You will work alongside experienced engineers, producing electrical calculations, drawings and documentation for projects supporting the transition to Net Zero. This role offers structured technical development and exposure to a wide range of renewable energy and power generation schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Producing electrical calculations, designs and drawings for energy and power projects
  • Preparing power cable calculations, C&I cabling specifications and cable schedules
  • Supporting the production of design documentation to client and legislative requirements
  • Assisting with equipment selection
  • Contributing to HAZOP studies where required
Skills & Experience
  • Experience producing electrical designs within power generation, renewable energy, building services or similar sectors
  • HNC / HND in Electrical Engineering (degree desirable)
  • Working knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations
  • Experience with Amtech (advantageous)
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (advantageous)
  • Exposure to motor VSD controls and MCC equipment (advantageous)
  • Full UK manual driving licence
