Job summary

AALTO is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Farnborough to contribute to the design, development and delivery of electrical products across Zephyr programmes. You’ll work in a multidisciplinary team, maintain the digital design record, and collaborate with manufacturing and installation partners on evolving programmes.

The role offers exposure to complex design challenges within a growing aerospace company and requires aviation‑focused electrical design experience, an ONC/HND in Electrical

Qualifications

• Developing experience in aviation‑focused electrical design.
• Experience translating system requirements into complete electrical design solutions.
• Experience resolving emergent electrical issues and proposing innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Support Avionics and Systems Engineering teams in developing and maintaining the production design record for new concepts and design changes.
• Produce detailed electrical design solutions using SolidWorks Electrical.
• Select appropriate electrical components to satisfy schematic and system level requirements.
• Act as a key contact for electrical design queries across engineering and production.
• Provide hands on support to the build line to resolve electrical issues.
• Support and participate in design maturity gate reviews per AALTO design processes.
• Help manage design changes in line with configuration and change control processes.
• Collaborate with Production and Procurement to address Design for Manufacture early in lifecycle.

Job Purpose

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and delivery of electrical products across multiple Zephyr programmes.

Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will help generate and maintain the digital design record, collaborating closely with both internal teams and external manufacturing and installation partners.

This is a dynamic role in a growing organisation, offering exposure to evolving programmes and complex, rewarding design challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Avionics and Systems Engineering teams in developing and maintaining the production design record for new concepts and design changes.
• Produce detailed electrical design solutions using SolidWorks Electrical.
• Select appropriate electrical components to satisfy schematic and system level requirements.
• Act as a key contact for electrical design queries across engineering and production.
• Provide hands on support to the build line in resolving emerging electrical issues.
• Support and participate in design maturity gate reviews in accordance with AALTO’s design processes.
• Help manage design changes in line with configuration and change control processes.
• Collaborate with Production and Procurement teams to ensure Design for Manufacture (DFM) considerations are addressed early in the lifecycle.

Requirements

• Developing experience in aviation‑focused electrical design
• ONC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Experience working with PDM systems would be an advantage
• Experience in resolving emergent electrical issues and developing innovative solutions
• Demonstrable experience in translating system level requirements into complete design solutions
