A leading contractor in the water sector is seeking a Design Coordinator / Principal Engineer (Electrical) based in St. Asaph. This role supports the Design Manager in coordinating design outputs and managing sub-contractor progress. Ideal candidates will have 10 years of experience in the water/wastewater sector and an engineering degree. The position is for a minimum of 12 months and offers flexible office/home presence.

Role: Design Coordinator / Principal Engineer (Electrical)

Location: St. Asaph (Flexible Office/Home Presence)

Rate: £60 p/h - Outside IR35/LTD Company

Duration: 12 Months+

Sector: Wastewater

The business we're working with is an award-winning and innovative contractor providing project solutions for the water and wastewater industry including design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance.

The majority of the design packages to work through and sub contractors to manage are from an M&E bias.

As a Design Coordinator you will be responsible for supporting the Design Manager to coordinate the design outputs within a multi-discipline team across the Project or Projects assigned to you from resourcing, technical and timely prospective ensuring compliance with company procedures and Client specification.

This will include distributing packages of work to other team members and taking on client facing responsibilities alongside managing sub contractor progress.

Role:
  • Understanding and agree the clients project requirements
  • Agreeing levels of resource against the programme
  • Track and monitor design outputs against design deliverables and project programme
  • Track and monitor design expenditure against cost allowance
  • Produce monthly progress reports
  • Review and collate documents & drawings for both internal governance and client acceptance through the gateway processes
  • Identification of requirements for design of temporary works
  • Monitor and Track change control
  • Site Visits as required
Responsibilities:
  • Agreeing levels of resource against the programme
  • Ensuring production of all documentation required to manage the project in line with CDM
Requirements:
  • 10 years demonstrated Design Experience in the water/wastewater sector
  • Compilation of Weekly / monthly reports as dictated by the project
  • Monitoring of design outputs against the design deliverable schedule including remedial cause of action as required.
  • Confirming that all regularity standards are adhered to
  • Chair Design meetings
  • Contribute to the production of the design cost for individual schemes
  • Coordinate the design engineers across all disciplines
  • Producing design briefs, incorporating the requirements of all the project needs, including Mechanical, Electrical and Civil interface
  • Producing and reviewing sub-contractor enquiry documents to enable all design to be incorporated
  • Ensure all disciplines design are incorporated into the 3D model
  • Report and gain approval for change
Experience/Qualifications Needed:
  • Experience of working in multidiscipline teams

  • Industry applicable Engineering Degree
  • Chartered Engineer preferred or working towards chartership
