Job summary

Haith Group is seeking an experienced engineer to write control software and support PLC-based systems. You will work with HMI platforms, safety systems, inverters, and industrial networks, while maintaining documentation and regulatory compliance.

You will travel to Haith’s factory and customer sites for installation, testing, and commissioning, with occasional overnight stays, contributing to efficiency and safety improvements across our automation projects.

Qualifications

  • Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in an electrical service, installation or maintenance role.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience working with machinery, control panels or automation systems.
  • Electrical testing or commissioning experience.

Responsibilities

  • PLC and HMI programming across Omron and Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Inverter configuration and commissioning (Yaskawa, Omron, Allen-Bradley).
  • Electrical installation and commissioning at Haith’s factory and customer sites, including occasional overnight stays.

The Role:

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in writing control software and executing design and commissioning tasks for PLC-based control systems. They should be proficient in working with HMI platforms, safety systems, inverters, and industrial communication networks. In addition to technical expertise, the candidate will provide support to the Electrical and Commissioning Department by ensuring efficient administration, regulatory compliance, and organised technical documentation. They will uphold safety standards and contribute to the integration of AI technologies to enhance overall operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • PLC and HMI programming across Omron and Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Inverter configuration and commissioning (Yaskawa, Omron, Allen-Bradley).
  • Electrical installation and commissioning at Haith’s factory and customer sites, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Modifying electrical diagrams using CAD software.
  • Fault-finding and supporting customers through breakdowns.
  • Planning and managing project timelines and priorities.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on energy efficiency and safety.
  • Maintaining accurate technical documentation and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Participating in production meetings.
  • Completing relevant training as required.
  • Interpret and understand panel drawings proficiently.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with electrical standards, safe systems of work and company procedures.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety requirements, including the correct use of PPE.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, production and technical teams.
  • Carry out any other duties reasonably required by management within the scope of the role.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of control panels and design safety systems.
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Practical, methodical and safety-focused approach to work.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in a site-based or customer-facing engineering role.
  • Electrical testing or commissioning experience.
