Electrical Contracts Manager
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Contracts Manager to oversee and deliver electrical works on a major commercial project (e.g. fit-out, shell & core, office development, retail centre, or mixed‑use scheme). This is a freelance role requiring strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven ability to manage multiple teams and subcontractors to ensure all works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all electrical activities across the project, from planning through to completion.
- Supervise site teams including electrical supervisors, trades, and subcontractors.
- Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and designs to ensure full compliance and quality execution.
- Oversee installation works, testing, commissioning, and final handover documentation.
- Coordinate with other trade managers, the project management team, and clients to maintain smooth communication and progress.
- Implement and enforce health & safety standards, ensuring RAMS are up to date and all operatives follow safe systems of work.
- Monitor progress, manage schedules, forecast resources, and mitigate risks or delays.
- Lead snagging, defect resolution, and ensure project deliverables meet specification and client expectations.
- Maintain accurate documentation including reports, progress updates, and materials tracking.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years experience as an Electrical Contracts Manager or Electrical Supervisor on commercial or industrial projects.
- Proven track record managing large‑scale electrical packages within a main contractor or specialist subcontractor environment.
- ECS Gold Card and SSSTS (or SMSTS) certification.
- Strong understanding of electrical design, installation, and commissioning standards.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a hands‑on approach to leadership.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
