This is a hands-on technical and supervisory position, responsible for maintaining consistently high standards of electrical quality, compliance and safety across a busy installation programme. You will work closely with a small team of Compliance Inspectors, installation teams and site management, carrying out both remote and on-site inspections across Solar PV, battery storage, Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) and Electrical Storage Heating installations.

The role offers a genuine mix of technical, field and office-based responsibilities, including reviewing electrical certification and photographic evidence, supporting installers with technical queries, identifying quality issues and providing coaching and training to installation and inspection teams.

There is also the opportunity for the successful candidate to become, or work towards becoming, a NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and support a team of Compliance Inspectors, ensuring inspection activity keeps pace with a high-volume installation programme.
  • Carry out remote and on-site inspections, reviewing workmanship, materials, installation methods and supporting documentation.
  • Apply strong practical electrical knowledge to assess the installation, wiring, configuration and commissioning of inverters and battery storage systems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical and system faults both remotely and on-site.
  • Provide technical support to installation teams, inspectors and customers, acting as a key point of contact for electrical and system-related queries.
  • Support the training and development of site and office-based colleagues, enabling effective first-line fault diagnosis and technical triage.
  • Liaise with manufacturers and equipment suppliers to resolve technical issues, faults and warranty matters.
  • Monitor installation quality and identify examples of best and poor practice, feeding learning into toolbox talks, training and best-practice guidance.
  • Deliver technical updates, toolbox talks and product awareness sessions to installation and inspection teams.
  • Review photographic evidence and job documentation to ensure installations can be effectively inspected remotely.
  • Ensure electrical installation work meets relevant engineering specifications, BS 7671, NICEIC requirements, MCS standards and applicable health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Review electrical certificates, including EICs, Minor Works Certificates and EICRs, for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure project documentation is complete and meets relevant renewable energy certification requirements before sign-off.
  • Support internal and external quality, compliance and regulatory audits.
Person Specification:

You will be an experienced electrical professional with a strong understanding of renewable energy installations and a genuine interest in maintaining high standards of workmanship and compliance.

  • A strong electrical installation background with relevant industry experience.

  • Experience of electrical inspection, testing and fault finding.
  • Good working knowledge of BS 7671.
  • Understanding of MCS requirements and renewable energy compliance.
  • Experience reviewing electrical certification and installation documentation.
  • The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues both remotely and on-site.
