Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrician or Electrical Engineer looking for an office‑based role. The Electrical Compliance Engineer (Domestic) role is initially offered as a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, potentially extendable or permanent. It is full‑time, part‑time or flexible; based in Walsham‑Le‑Willows, near Bury St Edmunds, Diss and Stowmarket. Starting salary: £35 000–£38 000.

Company

The company is a property maintenance firm offering a wide range of services across the UK, including gas and electrical safety inspections, Legionella testing, CO and smoke alarm monitoring, and gas and electrical repairs and installations. With 25 years of experience in residential lettings, we now also offer boiler installations. The role will be in a rural setting with a supportive team.

Job

This position assists the electrical team in processing and managing EICR and related documents for rental and owner‑occupied properties over the next 12 months (possibly longer).

  • Deal with incoming customer enquiries about EICR documents.
  • Act as point of contact for field electricians with technical queries or for second opinions.
  • Use practical electrician experience to advise customers, subcontractors and team members.
  • Interpret EICR reports and communicate information clearly.
  • Review submitted reports for inconsistencies.
  • Provide technical support and diagnostics from time to time.
  • Assist the customer‑service department with technical complaints and queries.
  • Update CRM information accurately and keep it current.
  • Create compliant technical emails.
  • Speak with customers and electricians by phone as needed.
  • Approve works by checking quotations and certificates before sending to customers.
  • Formulate quotations.
  • Check and collate photographs, ensuring upload to the system.
Person

We are seeking an experienced electrician with domestic industry knowledge and the following skills and attributes:

  • Previous domestic electrician experience (essential).
  • Knowledge of Wiring Regulations (18th edition).
  • Level 3 requirement inspection and testing qualification (or equivalent).
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, phone, email).
  • Good understanding of EICR reports, code classifications and recommendations.
  • Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel, email and ideally some CRM experience.
  • Familiarity with Part P building regulations for new circuits and re‑works.
  • Methodical, thorough and detail‑oriented.
  • Willing to work in an office‑based environment.
Pay & Hours

Initially a 12‑month FTC, potentially extendable or permanent. Full‑time, part‑time or flexible arrangements considered; not hybrid or working from home. Annual salary: £35 000–£38 000.
