Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is seeking a skilled Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join a dynamic engineering team in Bridgwater. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of production machinery and site facilities while driving continuous improvement.

Key Duties
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all machinery and infrastructure.
  • Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns and implementing effective solutions.
  • Supporting production teams by resolving mechanical and electrical faults impacting efficiency.
  • Collaborating with the Manufacturing Systems Engineering team to improve reliability and resolve complex issues.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to all safety regulations and site procedures.
  • Completing corrective actions from the Corrective Action Report (CAR) system.
  • Communicating with departments to coordinate maintenance plans and equipment handovers.
  • Assisting with commissioning, upgrades, and configuration of site machinery and facilities.
  • Maintaining detailed records of maintenance work, parts usage, and fault analysis.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
Requirements
  • Time-served apprenticeship with a formal engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of 3-phase (415V) electrical systems.
  • Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS).
  • Excellent fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication and decision‑making abilities.
  • Attention to detail with a methodical and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safe working practices.
