Qualifications

About this role

Due to the retirement of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the SEND & Inclusion team for secondment to the post of Elective Home Education Advisor. We are looking for a confident, self‑motivated individual with a track record of working with a variety of stakeholders – health, social care, education – and supporting children and families. This secondment should be discussed with your line manager before applying and the post will run until 30th April 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Work with parents and families to support those deciding to electively home educate
  • Monitor educational plans and ensure the LA EHE database is up to date and accurate
  • Check and process EHE applications
  • Offer support and guidance to families and contribute to legal processes such as liaising with the School Attendance Team to action school attendance orders if education is not deemed suitable
  • Conduct home visits and lone work across the working week
Qualifications and Experience
  • Teaching background with QTS required
  • Experience with relational practice/strengths‑based working
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children
  • Experience using council data systems (Liquid Logic/EYES)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
