The coordinator will also ensure synchrony between outpatient and inpatient waiting lists to enable tracking of patient pathway target times for the national 18‑week pathway, requiring extensive joint working with colleagues across the Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule patients for surgery with agreed dates, ensuring that activity and performance targets for the Trust are met in line with national HCC targets.
  • Create and maintain the daily bed list, both paper‑based and electronically.
  • Liaise daily with Ward Managers, Discharge Coordinators and Site Practitioners to ensure a smooth, seamless pathway for elective inpatients.
  • Provide inpatient booking data information in compliance with national initiatives and act as the first point of contact for queries from clinicians, staff and patients.
  • Regularly monitor inpatient pre‑operative clinics, review clinic rules and profiles, and make recommendations to enable regional targets to be met in a timely fashion.
  • Provide regular performance monitoring reports on patient pathway progress to the Elective Inpatient Manager for dissemination to weekly Waiting List Meetings and the General Managers.
