Berkshire Talent Partnership is recruiting an EHV Grid Delivery Manager to own the 275kV package on a major pumped-storage hydro project in the UK. Qualifications

EHV & Grid Package Delivery Manager – 275kV

Major Pumped-Storage Hydro Project | Scottish Highlands / London

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced EHV / Grid Delivery Manager to take ownership of the 275kV grid connection and high-voltage package on one of the UK's most significant new pumped-storage hydro developments.

This is a major infrastructure project that will play an important role in supporting the UK's transition towards a more flexible, resilient electricity system.

Working as part of the client-side project team, you will lead the EHV package from design development and procurement through construction, testing, commissioning, energisation and handover.

You'll sit at the centre of a complex multi-contract environment, managing the EHV contractor while coordinating critical interfaces between the Transmission Owner, civil works contractor and major electrical/OEM suppliers.

The Role

You will take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project's EHV package, ensuring the works are delivered safely and in line with programme, cost, quality and technical requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the client-side delivery of the 275kV network connection and associated EHV infrastructure.
• Manage the EHV design process through FEED verification, value engineering, detailed design, procurement and IFC design.
• Drive contractor performance against agreed programme, milestones, KPIs, budget and quality requirements.
• Manage the day-to-day interface with the Transmission Owner (SSEN) across connection design, protection, earthing, Grid Code compliance and energisation.
• Coordinate electrical and civil interfaces including cable routes, ducts, plinths, building penetrations, earthing/bonding and AIS infrastructure.
• Manage interfaces with OEM suppliers across generator transformers, GIS feeder bays, protection systems and SCADA integration.
• Lead design reviews, technical coordination, change control and resolution of engineering interfaces.
• Maintain a strong focus on CDM 2015, HV safety and safe working around energised plant.

What We're Looking For

This is a senior delivery position requiring someone who has genuinely delivered complex HV/EHV transmission, connection or substation infrastructure. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience gained within a Tier 1 contractor, Transmission Owner, major utility or client-side project environment.

You should be able to demonstrate:

• Direct delivery experience on 275kV or higher-voltage infrastructure.
• Strong experience with GIS/AIS substations, transmission connections and energisation.
• Previous responsibility for major HV/EHV packages, ideally within projects valued at £70m+.
• Experience managing complex interfaces between electrical contractors, civil contractors, OEMs and Transmission Owners.
• Strong understanding of Grid Code requirements and transmission connection/energisation processes.
• Strong knowledge of FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, completions and energisation.
• The ability to interrogate contractor programmes, assess physical progress and challenge delivery performance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

An engineering qualification and Chartered Engineer (CEng) status in a relevant electrical discipline – MIET or equivalent – are highly desirable.

Location & Working Pattern

During the design and pre-construction phase, the role will operate on a hybrid basis from the client's London headquarters.

For candidates based in Scotland, London office attendance is expected approximately every other week, while candidates within commuting distance of London would typically attend 3–4 days per week.

As the EHV works move into construction, the position will transition towards regular attendance at the project site in the Scottish Highlands, particularly during key construction, testing, energisation and commissioning phases.
