UK Power Networks is seeking a dedicated technician to join a team responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of fluid-filled cable systems up to 132kV. You will work across locations in the UK Power Networks area, reporting to the EPN Senior Project Manager, with a commitment to safety and high workmanship.

The role supports training to achieve City & Guilds 2339 and aims to become a craftsman Fitter/Jointer, requiring GCSEs and a full UK driving licence.

Competenze

• Must have City & Guilds 232/2339 or ONC or equivalent electrical/electronic engineering qualification.
• GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Experience with fluid-filled cable systems is advantageous.

• Ensure Safety, Health and Environmental compliance for the role.
• Follow Distribution Safety Rules and maintain high workmanship standards.
• Ensure safe use of equipment and PPE per procedures.
• Carry out Point of Work Risk Assessments and promote a strong safety culture.
• Identify and report hazards or defects via proper channels.
• Inspect, maintain and repair EHV pressurised cables up to 132kV under supervision.
• Carry out fault location, diagnosis and repair on EHV cables under supervision.
• Communicate with Network Control and participate in standby duties to maintain network security.
• Record asset and operational data using handheld IT devices.
• Act as an ambassador for UK Power Networks with professional customer service.
• Be prepared to study to obtain City & Guilds 2339 and train to become a craftsman Fitter/Jointer on fluid-filled systems.
