Job summary

Gulfstream Aerospace Farnborough is seeking an EHS Process Manager to lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health and Safety management systems at our UK site.

You will provide daily guidance on EHS programs, manage risk assessments, SOPs, training and audits to ensure ISO 14001/45001 compliance and regulatory requirements; drive reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • An occupational health and safety and environmental degree or equivalent degree of experience supported by specific training to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • NEBOSH Certificate.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows/Windows NT and Microsoft Office products, Word and Excel.
  • Extensive experience in EHS.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, maintain and continuously improve Environmental, Health and Safety management systems.
  • Provide daily guidance in EHS programs at employee/supervisor level and advise line management on health, safety and environmental matters.
  • Identify environmental aspects and safety hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement effective controls.
  • Facilitate risk assessments (general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention) and oversee site assessments.
  • Maintain SOPs for safe work practices and equipment; use in training.
  • Coordinate EHS training programs and emergencies; conduct orientations and risk-specific training.
  • Audit operations to ensure effective EHS implementation and improvement.
  • Develop EHS communication strategy for all staff levels; include toolbox talks and briefs.
  • Ensure regulatory inspections are coordinated and deficiencies corrected.
  • Coordinate with site and corporate leadership on EHS activities.
  • Maintain EHS records and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist with Business Continuity and Emergency Response Plans/procedures.
  • Review accidents/incidents; manage audits and CAPAs.
  • Conduct occupational health and safety surveys.
  • Produce yearly EHS action plan and long-term roadmap.
  • Monitor permit-to-work and contractor controls to ensure compliance.

Unique Skills
  • Be a chartered HSE professional with a NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Experience within an EHS leadership role, preferably within maintenance or engineering
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Have proven experience in environmental and sustainability reporting
  • Be a lead auditor and able to drive continuous improvement
Education And Experience Requirements

Position Purpose

Provide full time environmental health and safety support to the business and ensure that all practices are in compliance with the Company and UK regulatory requirements. Support the development and coordination of ISO 14001 Environmental and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions
  • Responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health and Safety management systems.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee / supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach. Advise line management of health, safety and environmental matters and manage this process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day to day processes and operations.
  • Responsible for assisting in the identification of environmental aspects and safety hazards, risk assessments and developing and implementing effective control measure to manage the risks.
  • Facilitate all forms of risk assessment e.g. general, manual handling, COSHH, fire prevention and act as a final authority where a specialist response is required. in relation to risk assessments performed by others on site.
  • Maintain and update as needed SOP’s for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training.
  • Facilitate training on Environmental, Health and Safety topics and improvement processes, by conducting employee orientations, emergency response training and coordination of risk specific training programs.
  • Provide advice, assist, and audit the operations to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.
  • Develop an EHS Communication Strategy for all levels of staff, to include written information, tool box talks and management briefs.
  • Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies and accreditation bodies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected.
  • Coordinate with the site and corporate leadership on EHS related activities. Advises line management in of health, safety and environmental matters and manages this process to ensure all advice is incorporated into day to day processes and operations.
  • Maintain all records and documentation associated with the EHS Management System and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining the Business Continuity and Emergency Response Plans & Procedures.
  • Review accidents and incidents which occur in the area of responsibility and manage internal audits, reporting and managing the corrective/preventive actions.
  • Conduct occupational health and safety related surveys .
  • Produce and coordinate the yearly EHS action plan and longer term EHS roadmap.
  • Monitors the Site 'permit-to-work' and 'control of contractors' systems to ensure compliance with Company standards and regulatory requirements .
Additional Functions
  • Travel domestically and/or internationally as required.

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be capable of lifting up to 22.5 kg.
