Job summary

Axalta in Darlington is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety at a high‑performance manufacturing site. You will develop, implement and improve EHS activities, ensuring UK legislation, RC14001 and ISO 9001 alignment, with the EMEA EHS network.

You will act as the site’s EHS expert, drive risk reduction, lead investigations, and promote a positive safety culture through strong leadership and cross‑functional engagement.

Qualifications

• Degree in EHS, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent required.
• CMIOSH preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing or chemical environments.
• Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation and RC14001.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site’s EHS strategy and align with Axalta’s objectives.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership and engagement.
• Act as the site’s competent person for EHS matters.
• Ensure compliance with UK environmental, health, safety, and hygiene laws.
• Maintain RC14001 certification and support ISO 9001 integration.
• Lead audits, inspections, and regulatory visits.
• Manage permits, licenses, and regulatory submissions.
• Maintain and update EHS procedures and documentation.
• Drive risk assessments and MoC processes.
• Lead incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Develop environmental KPIs and sustainability plans.
• Oversee contractor and visitor safety management.
