Qualifications

• Hold or working towards NEBOSH Diploma or General/Construction Certificate.
• Have an IEMA Certificate or equivalent.
• Possess internal quality auditing skills.
• Good understanding of Construction and CDM Regulations.
• Experience working with ISO14001 and ISO45001.
• Knowledge of railway-specific standards is advantageous.
• Understanding of Health and Safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Advise the team on EHS aspects and deliver projects successfully.
• Input into the EHS Policy and ensure understanding across projects.
• Communicate and monitor progress against EHS objectives.
• Stay updated on changes to UK EHS regulatory requirements.
• Ensure EHS issues are recognized by line managers.
• Develop and implement EHS management and improvement strategies.

Your future role

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is a key and integral role supporting multiple projects within covering a wide range of maintenance, repair and modernisation activities. The purpose of the role will be to have overall responsibility on all aspects of EHS activities to achieve excellence at Depot/ Site level.

We’ll look to you for:

• Advising the team on all aspects of EHS and to offer support and assistance where required in order to successfully deliver the project/s and maintain and improve EHS standards.
• Providing input to EHS Policy and ensure that policy is communicated and understood by the site/project.
• Providing input to annual UK EHS objectives.
• Communicating, and monitoring progress against objectives.
• Keeping abreast of and communicate new and changes to UK Regulatory and industry EHS requirements.
• Communicating widely and effectively within the company to ensure EHS issues and responsibilities are recognised and addressed by Line managers.
• Developing and implementing strategies, taking into account ALSTOM UK and Corporate requirements for managing and continually improving the company’s processes delivering the required EHS standards.
