Job summary

Winthrop Technologies Ltd., Europe’s dedicated data centre delivery partner, seeks an experienced EHS Manager to oversee health, safety and environmental performance across all project stages in the UK.

You will develop and implement policies, lead audits, conduct RAMS reviews, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating with project teams and subcontractors on-site. A NEBOSH IOSH qualification and 5+ years in construction EHS are required.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or similar discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an EHS role within construction or engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience managing EHS on construction projects.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent) are essential.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and promote a proactive safety culture.
  • Data centre, industrial, or mission-critical project experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all Environmental, Health & Safety activities across the project lifecycle
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and management systems in line with company and legal requirements
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all levels of the project
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on EHS practices
  • Monitor subcontractor compliance and ensure adherence to health & safety standards
  • Review and approve safety documentation, including RAMS
  • Manage incident investigations, reporting, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Ensure delivery of safety inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programmes
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, audits, and safety performance metrics
  • Attend Site Meetings, Safety Meetings, and Project Reviews
  • Prepare and issue EHS reports to senior management and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and sustainability requirements
  • Proactively identify and resolve EHS issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives
