Position overview

Be an integral part of the EHS Department who ensure a safe working environment for all in line with legal requirements whilst promoting a culture of Health & Safety awareness. Support the Health & Safety Manager in managing site compliance with health & safety and environmental legislation.

The support role is primarily office based but there will be occasional activities that will be undertaken within the factory as required. Reporting to the EHS Manager, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support across all Health and Safety functions within the Plant. The role involves regular coordination with internal departments, suppliers and contractors to help ensure employee safety, wellbeing and full legal compliance with UK health, safety and environmental regulations, as well as adherence to relevant ISO standards.

Key responsibilities include
  • Conduct daily, weekly and monthly workplace audits and Gemba walks in line with internal standards and UK health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate PPE requirements, including safety footwear, and liaise with approved suppliers to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Provide daily administrative support to the EHS department, including reviewing Hazard and Near‑Miss reports and monitoring the Safety Behaviour System.
  • Prepare monthly compliance reports covering incident statistics, waste management and environmental performance.
  • Perform scheduled inspections of safety equipment, including Confined Space and Working at Height equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable UK regulations.
  • Deliver and maintain records for contractor, visitor and new‑starter site inductions.
  • Maintain, update and provide administrative support for the electronic EHS Management System.
  • Assist the EHS Manager with the development and review of Risk Assessments, PUWER assessments and COSHH assessments.
  • Support the EHS Manager in incident investigations, including evidence gathering, documentation and follow‑up actions.
  • Assist with environmental compliance activities, including Environmental Permits, Consents to Discharge and Water Regulations.
  • Assist with EHS training activities, including toolbox talks, creation of Job Breakdown Sheets (JBS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and training administration.
What are we looking for?
  • Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH) beneficial but not required.
  • Previous experience working within a production or engineering environment. EHS experience would be beneficial.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficient use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to maintain accurate records and site documentation.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Confident in managing digital filing systems, including creating, organising and maintaining electronic documents.
  • English – strong written, verbal and reading skills.
