Role Overview

My client are looking for a Commercial Manager to join their team working on the HS2, the largest ongoing project in the UK. As a Commercial Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of the project. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Team, you will be responsible for a diverse range of duties including cost reporting, change management, risk identification and management, strategy development, and procurement support. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving cost optimisation, enhancing value, and maintaining compliance with business processes and procedures. Additionally, you will provide commercial advice, manage subcontract accounts, and foster strong relationships with our supply chain and clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct cost, value, productivity, and cash flow reporting in accordance with deadlines.
  2. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and deliver best value solutions.
  3. Manage change processes, including assessment and negotiation of change orders.
  4. Identify and mitigate risks while capitalising on opportunities.
  5. Contribute to the development and delivery of strategic initiatives.
  6. Provide commercial advice and support for procurement activities.
  7. Oversee commercial management of subcontract, professional services, and supplier contracts.
  8. Manage contractual notices and ensure compliance with business processes.
  9. Drive innovation through the development of new processes and procedures.
  10. Cultivate strong relationships with our supply chain and clients.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS, etc.).
  • Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
