Job responsibilities

In this vital role, you will:

Lead on compliance across health and safety, fire, and asbestos regulations. Act as the Trust’s Fire Safety Manager (HTM 05-01), chairing the Fire Committee and ensuring robust fire safety practices. Chair the EFCD H&S Committee and liaise closely with the Trust H&S Service team on all UEL EFCD health and safety matters. Manage the EFCD risk assessment programme, incident reporting system, and compliance data reporting. Provide expert guidance to staff and leaders at every level, influencing safe working practices across the Trust. Lead and develop the specialist risk, fire and asbestos team, ensuring effective training and professional growth.

Qualifications

We are seeking someone with:

  • A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and strong knowledge of fire and health & safety legislation.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Skills in compliance management, policy development, and incident investigation.
  • Excellent communication and influencing ability to engage colleagues and stakeholders.
Person Specification

Essential

  • Masters (or level 7) qualification or equivalent experience
  • NEBOSH diploma or equivalent
  • Experience of managing a team

  • Sound knowledge of Fire and Health & Safety regulations
