Salary: Actual £24,000 (Whole year equivalent: £30,439)
Full Time, term time only (plus 10 days)
Monday - Friday | 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
Job purpose: Under the guidance of senior staff; be responsible providing attendance support within the schools they are allocated
Purpose
- Work with the schools and parents to help them understand and fulfil their legal responsibilities in relation to school attendance.
- Assist in the development of a partnership between VIP Education, parents and the school.
- Support the schools in fulfilling their statutory duties in relation to attendance and support them instigating legal action following appropriate protocols.
- Work with schools, parents and other agencies to reduce persistent absence, improve social/educational inclusion, and behaviour.
- To monitor school attendance data and advise key staff of trends, concerns and referrals.
- Undertake duties commensurate with the Safeguarding agenda for children including representing the schools at Child Protection meetings and conferences in order to contribute to quorate decision making (if required)
Main Duties
- Meet school attendance officer, parents and pupils to agree action to reduce absence and improve attendance.
- Attend attendance meetings as requested by the school.
- Monitor and record the outcomes of planning with parents/pupils to improve attendance, maintain efficient and contemporaneous notes and records.
- Maintain electronic casework records and files
- Be able to produce and interpret various data for maximum impact on raising levels of attendance.
- Be computer literate and able to use various applications and software.
- Advise and support schools with the appropriate legal actions they need to take with penalty notice fines, unauthorised absences and holiday fines.
- Give advice and support the school on policies/procedures/strategies in relation to the whole school approach of managing attendance.
- Monitor, support and guidance and the effectiveness of the school policies/procedures/strategies in relation to a whole school approach to managing attendance.
- Undertake attendance/registration inspection and whole academy audits
Qualifications/Requirements
- Proven experience supporting children in education.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to maintain records.
- Driving licence with a clean driver’s licence.
- Willingness to undertake training.
- Pass an enhanced criminal record check (supplied by the company) as you will be working with children & young persons
- Have the right to work in the UK.
