Job summary

Star Academies is seeking an experienced Payroll and Pensions Manager within the education sector. Based at Star Central in Blackburn, Lancashire, you will administer pension information across multiple schemes and manage tight deadlines.

You will supervise three direct reports and lead onboarding of new schools into the Trust's payroll and pension schemes. You will possess extensive knowledge of education sector payroll and pensions, strong analytical skills, and proven experience in payroll

• Management and coaching skills in leading a small central payroll and pensions team.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Staff onboarding experience.
• Experience in public sector defined benefit pension scheme administration processes and education specific terms and conditions.
• Payroll system implementation, configuration and management experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer and report employees' pension information to all pension schemes (Teachers' Pension Scheme and 4 Local Government Pension Schemes).
• Manage tight payroll cut-off dates alongside external reporting deadlines (pension schemes and HMRC).
• Act as subject expert on education sector payroll and pensions matters.
• Lead onboarding of new schools into the Trust's payroll and pension schemes.
• Support and manage three direct reports in delivering payroll and pension obligations.
