Job summary

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in Cannock is seeking an experienced Education Mental Health Practitioner to support schools within the CAMHS framework. You will deliver evidence-based interventions for children and young people in educational settings and collaborate with families, educators and partner agencies.

The post includes a welcome bonus of 5% of the first year salary and the role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

  • For this role you must be a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner & have obtained the EMHP Post Graduate Diploma qualification following the completion of a CYP IAPT approved training in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment for Children & Young People (C&Y IAPT). MPFT will offer a welcome bonus of 5% of first year salary - at 2.5% on commencement of employment and 2.5% following 12 months employment. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Job summary

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. An exciting position has arisen within our Cannock Mental Health Support Team. We are looking for 2 experienced & enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioners.
You will continue to build on the fantastic work carried out within your allocated schools. The role is varied & no two days are the same, you may be setting up and delivering group work & assemblies one day to delivering assessment & interventions the next, as well as supporting schools to develop their whole school approaches to mental health & wellbeing.
You will be skilled & experienced in conducting mental health assessments of children and young people (CYP) presenting with common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and low mood. You will conduct risk assessments & identify the right level of support for CYP you come into contact with.
Alongside the clinical aspect of your role, you will play an integral part in supporting schools with their whole school approaches. There is scope for creativity and opportunities to work alongside CYP & parents/carers to drive the whole school approach agenda.
This is an opportunity to be involved in an established team within the wider CAMHS structure, as a joint initiative between health & education. You will work across the Cannock locality as well as supporting other MHSTs across South Staffordshire. You will work deliver parent, staff well-being, 1:1 & group work sessions.

Main duties of the job
  • Assess & deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions in educational settings for children & young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, working at all times in collaboration with & giving respect to the education function of the setting in which deployed.
  • Work in effective, evidence-based partnership with children, young people, their families & educators in the development of plans for the intervention & agreed outcomes.
  • Support & empower children, young people, their parents/carers, families & educators to make informed choices about the interventions being offered.
  • Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognises & respects diversity.
  • Accept referrals within educational settings according to agreed local & national protocols.
  • Undertake & record accurate assessments of risk & operate clear risk management processes in line with locally agreed procedures including the safeguarding protocols of the educational setting & Local Safeguarding Board guidance.
  • Adhere to all regulations, processes & procedures within the educational service to which the post holder is attached within the educational setting where the post-holder working including (but not limited to) HR policies, training requirements, referral protocols, & emergency procedures. Signpost referrals of children with more complex needs to a locally identified appropriate service.
