Education Lead – Division B

This is a brand‑new role, offering a unique opportunity to design, lead, and grow educational pathways for nurses and allied health professionals across the Division.

Responsibilities
- Managerially report to the Divisional Head of Nursing, and professionally report to the Head of Education for Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions (NMAHPs).
- Hold lead responsibility for overseeing Divisional education provision for NMAHPs and Clinical Support Workers (CSWs).
- Ensure that the Divisional Education Team provides a high level of support to students and apprentices, thus facilitating a positive placement experience.
- Strategically lead the Divisional Education Team to deliver high‑quality education evaluated against Trust‑wide education quality assurance mechanisms for NMAHPs and CSWs and key performance indicators.
- Provide strategic oversight for education and development of the NMAHP and CSW workforce, aligned with the NHS 10‑Year Plan in collaboration with the divisional nursing leadership team, wider CUH education community and I CS partners.
- Collaborate with Trust‑wide Education Leads and specialty teams across the organisation to lead, plan, and organise complex education activities and programmes of study.
- Be responsible for reviewing, processing and presenting Divisional applications for funded learning and ongoing professional development at relevant committees.
Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential
- Current and relevant registration on NMC or HCPC Register.
- First degree.
- Master's degree or expected completion within next 12 months.
- Evidence of current relevant continuous professional development.
- Post‑Graduate Certificate in Education.
- Fellow of Higher Education Academy or progressing toward.
Qualifications – Desirable
- Leadership and management qualification.
- Professional Nurse Advocate.
Experience – Essential
- Significant experience as a senior educator or equivalent in Higher Education, responsible for leading teaching activities requiring high level of knowledge of educational pedagogy.
- Significant evidence of leading and managing teams with compassionate leadership skills.
- Evidence of ability to lead and support change.
- Experience of supporting education quality improvement activities in response to learner feedback.
- Experience of developing education modules including delivery and evaluation of learner experience.
- Senior clinical experience in an acute hospital setting.
- Experience of managing a clinical team, including staff management, setting objectives, appraisals, recruitment and disciplinary issues.
- Awareness of budgetary management principles.
- Demonstrates a high‑level understanding of productivity and efficiency significance.
- Good evidence of partnership working and stakeholder engagement.
- Experience collaborating with Higher Education Institution (HEI) partners in the design, delivery and assessment of academic programmes.
- Awareness of digital initiatives that leverage advanced and innovative technologies to enhance quality, productivity and efficiency in education.
Experience – Desirable
- Experience developing policies and procedures.
- Audit or research experience.

Knowledge – Essential
- Current developments in nursing and political awareness of NHS issues.
- Sound knowledge of quality governance principles, systems and processes.
- In‑depth knowledge of workforce planning principles, Trust workforce policies and recruitment and retention strategy.
- Sound awareness of cultural and learning diversity.
Skills – Essential
- Proven leadership and influencing skills with ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams across the Trust.
- Excellent communication skills, including liaison/negotiation and writing/presentation skills.
- Political awareness when dealing with complex issues, diverse interest groups and common sense in briefing up the line.
- Able to have challenging conversations where necessary.
- Ability to collaboratively develop policies, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion.
- Computer literacy, competent in Word and Excel.
- Ability to prioritise work, meet tight deadlines and work independently.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at regional and national levels to enhance the CUH profile.
