Job summary

ADE Recruitment is helping a global Lancashire manufacturer fill an EDM Machinist role. You will operate Numeric Controlled EDM machines to manufacture aerospace components following approved data card instructions.

You will work with Manufacturing Engineers and a CNC programmer to meet daily production targets, maintain tooling, and document production and quality logs. Safety and compliance underpin all activities.

Qualifications

• Experience with EDM equipment and controls is preferred.
• Good interpretation of engineering drawings.
• Experience with CNC-based equipment is desirable.

About the job

This role will use Numeric Controlled Electro Discharge Machines (EDM) to manufacture aerospace components following approved data card instruction.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

The EDM Machinists will:

• Participate in a positive and proactive EHS culture across the site
• Perform EDM operations using a variety of different machines including wiring, sinking and deep hole drilling.
• Working in conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers and CNC programmer, operate the EDM to meet the daily production targets.
• Provide methods and technical support to other members of the team wherever necessary.
• Assist with the development of tooling solutions as necessary.
• Ensure that full documentation is kept up to date detailing the EDM path, featuring and tooling information.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Contribute new ideas and positive support to the current processes to improve productivity.
• Assist in solving manufacturing and quality issues utilising root cause and analysis tools

Person Specification

The EDM Machinists will have:

• Ability to effectively work in a team environment and on own
• Excellent knowledge of engineering drawings and interpretation
• Previous experience of manufacturing within EDM equipment and controls would be ideal
• Previous experience of working with CNC based machine equipment is desired
• Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organisation
