Rowden in Bristol is building a modern ML team and hiring across mid to principal levels. You will join an ML group that works from R&D to deployment, delivering AI systems that run on edge and embedded hardware.

The role emphasises collaboration with software, hardware and systems teams, with flexible hybrid working. We value candidates who can mentor others, own projects end-to-end, and translate complex ideas for diverse audiences. Candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.

Qualifications

• Proven delivery: experience building, training, evaluating, or deploying ML systems for real-world use.
• Deep domain expertise in ML areas such as optimisation, CV, sequence modelling or large-scale training.
• Strong ML and maths grounding with ability to reason about trade-offs in production.
• Strong Python software development with version control, testing, maintainability.
• Interpersonal skills to mentor, influence, and bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
• Education: degree or postgraduate study in ML, CS, engineering, or related field.
• Builder mindset with ownership and comfort working through ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own and ship ML in production from R&D to deployment on edge or embedded hardware.
• Train and adapt models through development, fine-tuning, evaluation and optimisation.
• Scale workloads across GPUs and nodes to support reliable model performance.
• Profile, optimise and debug ML systems across code, data pipelines and hardware.
• Design evaluation pipelines, benchmarks, and test sets to understand model behaviour.
• End-to-end ownership: data collection, feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring.
• MLOps/LLMOps: CI/CD for models, containerisation, experiment tracking, safety guardrails.
• Cross-team collaboration with software, systems, and product colleagues.
• Establish pragmatic data pipelines for provenance and reproducibility.
