Position: Head of Modern Foreign Languages (Mainly French)

Location: Enfield, London

Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Languages, primarily specializing in French, to lead our dynamic MFL department. As the Head of MFL, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the language learning experience for our students, inspiring them to develop proficiency and a genuine appreciation for French language and culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the MFL department, overseeing curriculum planning, assessment, and delivery, ensuring alignment with national standards and the school's objectives.
  • Develop engaging and innovative teaching strategies to cater to students of diverse abilities and learning styles, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Mentor and support departmental staff, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness and job satisfaction.
  • Monitor student progress closely, implementing intervention strategies as necessary to support attainment and progression.
  • Foster a passion for French language and culture within the school community through extracurricular activities, cultural events, and collaborative projects.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote cross-curricular initiatives and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching French at the secondary level, with a track record of achieving excellent results and fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and staying abreast of best practices in language teaching and learning.
