Job description
Overview

This position is in the NHS Urgent and Emergency Care Department. We are committed to patients and relatives to ensure they have a positive experience in a situation that can be stressful and where they may feel vulnerable. Priority will be given to colleagues identified as at risk through the Trust's redeployment process. Interviews are face to face. Secondment end date: 31/08/2026.

Job responsibilities
  • Be the first point of contact for patients arriving at the Emergency Department.
  • Ensure all patients are registered efficiently and accurately onto the Trust's IT systems.
  • Deal with patient and relative enquiries in person and via the telephone.
  • Maintain the Emergency Department patient record filing/scanning systems and make relevant follow-up appointments.
  • Ensure discharge summaries are raised in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain high standards in the Emergency Department reception areas.
  • Assist in induction/orientation and training for new staff.
  • Attend/complete Trust mandatory training sessions.
  • Work well as part of a large administration team.
  • Provide administration services for both Departments; be flexible and reliable.
  • Work under the direction of the Senior Clerical Officers/Administration Services Lead.
