Economic Crime Compliance Officer
Country: United Kingdom

Santander Consumer Finance is one of the UK's leading motor finance companies and we are currently looking for an Economic Crime Compliance Officer to contribute to the ongoing development of effective policies, procedures, and controls that protect the business and its customers from financial crime risks. This is a key role supporting the delivery of SCUK's economic crime framework, ensuring SCUK remains compliant with all regulatory requirements and internal standards. This role is hybrid with at least 3 days a week in the Redhill office. Remote workers will not be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a key point of contact within SCUK Economic Crime Compliance for Santander UK Line 2 Financial & Economic Crime Policy and Oversight teams, particularly on changes to policies and standards (AML, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, FoTE, and Fraud)
  • Review and analyse proposed changes to Economic Crime policies and standards and present to Line 1 and Line 2 stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with requirements
  • Support the implementation of economic change initiatives, including those arising from regulatory updates, policy revisions, or internal improvement programmes
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Economic Crime Compliance annual plan, including performing oversight and quality assurance activities
  • Contribute to the identification, assessment and monitoring of the financial crime risk applicable to the business and ensure relevant controls are designed, implemented and operated effectively; including performance of second line controls
  • Support the management and resolution of breaches, waivers, and dispensations relating to non-adherence to policies or economic crime regulations
  • Support governance, management information (MI), and reporting requirements by compiling and analysing data for both internal and external reporting
  • Review upcoming regulatory changes, assess their potential impact on SCUK's economic crime framework, and provide clear feedback and recommendations to stakeholders
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of economic crime policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance and effectiveness across all business areas
  • Engage with Group and Santander UK stakeholders (including Line 1 and Line 2 teams) to support the delivery of economic crime compliance activities
  • Assist in the oversight of economic crime prevention initiatives and business-as-usual queries including the management of the shared mailboxes
  • Provide governance and secretariat support for key meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, coordination of meeting materials, and accurate recording of minutes and actions. This includes but is not limited to, supporting the SCUK Financial Crime Committee and relevant sub-committees, ensuring effective follow-up and documentation of outcomes and decisions
What we're looking for
  • Sound understanding of current economic crime regulations relevant to the motor finance and consumer credit industry
  • Previous experience in financial crime - specifically L1 and L2
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage and present to stakeholders at all levels
  • Understanding of financial crime regulations
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
